SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF A COLD
Fever is rare
Chills are uncommon

INFLUENZA IS A CONTAGIOUS VIRAL RESPIRATORY INFECTION. Typically, the condition will improve after two to three days of bed rest, although some symptoms may persist for about a week. Death caused by flu virus is very rare. The majority of so-called “flu deaths” are due to bacterial pneumonia – a potential complication of the flu if your immune system is too weak. Other complications can include ear or sinus infections, dehydration, or worsening of existing chronic health conditions. The elderly and people with pre-existing medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease, are at higher risk of developing pneumonia after a bout of the flu.

DON’T PANIC IF YOU GET THE FLU!
1) Keep hydrated. Stay home. Get REST. Consume a liquid diet of vegetable juices and soups. Drink Aloe Vera juice. Do not eat sugary foods or drink sodas as these lower the immune system’s response. Do not consume dairy products as they are mucus forming.

2) SUPPLEMENT: Garlic supplement, Astragalus herbal supplement (stronger than Echinacea,) Colloidal Silver or Silver Shield, Limu juice (sea herbal - drink in ounces throughout the day.) If allergies or sensitivities are common, see a qualified doctor to know if your program is safe for you.

Hippocrates, the “Father of Medicine,” recognized the role illness plays in the larger picture of health when he wrote, “Diseases are crises of purification, of toxic elimination. Symptoms are the natural defenses of the body. We call them diseases, but in fact they are the cure of diseases.”

In one study, flu sufferers who took aspirin or acetaminophen were sick an average of 3.5 days longer than people who did not take the drugs. (Pharmacotherapy.2000;20(12):1417-1422.)

The cleansing or detoxifying aspect of illness (fever, vomiting, diarrhea, sweating) may be why getting colds, flu and infectious diseases has been associated with a decreased risk of cancer.

Researchers found that those who had febrile infectious childhood diseases have less cancer as adults while another revealed that “a history of common colds or … influenza … was associated with a decreased risk of stomach, colon, rectum and ovarian cancer.” (History of cancer patients and matched controls. Today, our immune system is under a lot of pressure from stress, environmental pollution, poor eating habits, and lack of sleep/exercise. There are many ways to protect ourselves and our immune system from seasonal challenges and diseases, including the flu. One of those ways is through nutrition. Support your immune system and conquer colds and flu by following these simple steps:

SLEEP When you’re tired, it becomes harder for you to get your daily tasks done. The same is true if your body is overly fatigued, it will be difficult for it to fight the flu. Regular rest will keep you strong and ensure that your body has the strength to fight off any potential invaders. Everyone needs a minimum of 6-8 hours daily! If your immune system is depleted, rest! After all, we cannot think clearly and function 100% without proper rest.

GARLIC Garlic is a triple-whammy: it’s antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal. Garlic is one food that you should be eating every day. You may choose to eat, “drink”, or take a quality garlic supplement When eating, it is important to note that the garlic must be fresh to give you optimal health benefits. The active ingredient is destroyed within one hour of pressing the garlic. Compress it with a spoon or garlic press, just prior to swallowing it, or put it through your juicer to add to your vegetable juice. If you swallow the clove intact you will not convert the active ingredient, allicin, to its active form.

STRESS We all face some stress everyday, but if stress becomes overwhelming then your body will be less able to fight off the flu and other illness. It has been estimated that up to 90 percent of illness and disease is stress-related. If you feel that stress is taking a toll on your health, consider “deep breathing” and other relaxing techniques (Yoga, meditation, aromatherapy baths, etc).

EXERCISE Exercise increases circulation and blood flow throughout your body. The components of your immune system are also better circulated, which means your immune system is more efficient at finding an illness before it spreads. In a sense, exercising helps your immune system to be more efficient in weeding and destroying viruses and diseases.

WASH YOUR HANDS Washing your hands decreases the likelihood of spreading a virus to your nose, mouth or other people. If your immune system is strong, it should be able to fight off the virus if it does enter your body, but washing your hands provides a bit of extra protection. Instead of antibacterial soap, identify’ a simple chemical-free soap that you can use. Local health food stores like Trader Joes’s or Whole Foods typically carry a variety of natural soaps.

AVOID DAIRY If you or your family member showing signs of runny nose, cough, congestion, sneezing; eliminate all dairy products for a few days. Dairy products increase the production of mucus and can actually CREATE more congestion, and amplify the feeding ground for bacteria and viruses. To be safe, eliminate any milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. for about 5-7 days while boosting your immune system and building back your energy reserves.

AVOID SUGAR Sugar decreases the function of your immune system almost immediately, and as you likely know, a strong immune system is key to fighting off viruses and other illness, including the flu. It is especially imperative to avoid sugar if you feel you are coming down with something, but keeping sugar out of your diet for the tong haul will do wonders for your health and make your body stronger, which will make it harder for the flu to bother you. Be aware that sugar is present in foods you may not suspect like ketchup and fruit juice.

1) EAT WELL.

MAINTAIN A DIET of 75% raw/steamed/sautéed vegetables & fresh fruits. If possible, juice carrots, celery and apples (drink raw juices). Otherwise, purchase refrigerated (less processed) juices.
LIMIT MEAT INTAKE to one serving a day the size of a deck of cards.
REDUCE INTAKE of WHITE FOOD PRODUCTS containing flour, sugar, salt, dairy, and grease/shortening (fried foods.) The “deadly whites” have the ability to lower the immune system’s response, raise blood sugars, increase LDL cholesterol levels, add fat to the body, increase mucus, increase heart disease, clog arteries, etc.: these foods do not support health and healing. They may be consumed in limited amounts when you are healthy.

2) STAY HYDRATED.
Cells require water to function properly and release toxins. A toxic overload lowers your body’s defenses and makes you more susceptible to illness and disease.

3) STRENGTHEN IMMUNE SYSTEM.
a) Products that may help: Colloidal Silver, Essential Oil of Thieves, Garlic crushed or in capsules, Aloe Vera juice, Vitamin D3, Cold-pressed Barley caps or tablets, Limu sea herbal juice.
b) Increase alkalinity of your body: consume large amounts of fresh vegetables and fruits,
c) Limit acidic foods such as meats, dairy, sugary foods, fast foods, pastas and white food products. Do not microwave food.

4) EXERCISE.

5) BE POSTIVE.

6) SLEEP WELL.
The body heals during sleep. Sleep and rest is essential for healing and for maintaining good health. AT bedtime, watch only happy shows, read the bible, meditate, enjoy relaxing music, close the day with something positive or happy. This is what will play on your mind throughout the night – so give yourself “the gift” of something positive to support your body’s work of repair and healing throughout the night.

7) GET REGULAR B.E.S.T. ADJUSTMENTS.
Eliminating stress from your body and central nervous system is essential to good health. Keep your body in balance so nutrition and energy can be maximized and flow freely to nourish your body.

Millions of Americans will be lining up for their annual flu shot. But should they?
Could a yearly flu shot make you more susceptible to developing Alzheimer’s disease? Unfortunately, the answer may be “yes.”

One of the world’s leading immunologists, Dr. Hugh Fudenberg, conducted studies that found that people who receive the flu vaccine yearly for three to five years increase their risk of Alzheimer’s disease tenfold.

He suggests the culprits are mercury and aluminum in the vaccines, but I believe a new mechanism, which involves mercury and aluminum as well the over-activation of the brain’s immune system caused by the vaccines, is to blame.

Mercury and aluminum are directly toxic to brain cells and also over-stimulate the brain’s immune system. There is compelling evidence that this mechanism can trigger Alzheimer’s dementia, Parkinson’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease and autism spectrum disorders, as well as Gulf War Syndrome.

The greatest risk of vaccinations triggering brain disorders is among those with impaired immunity. We know that as we age, the immune system becomes compromised, primarily because of poor nutrition.

In addition, the mercury vaccines, both in childhood vaccines as well as adult vaccines such as for flu, accumulates in the brain and is very difficult to remove. The idea of having yearly mercury injections is insane, to say the least, but millions still willingly line up for their annual flu shot.

ARE THERE ALTERNATIVES TO VACCINATION? Absolutely. We know that there is a solid connection between a strong immune system and nutrition. HOW MANY PEOPLE DIE FROM THE FLU? You may have heard that the flu kills over 30,000 Americans every year. That is incorrect. Government statistics lump flu and pneumonia deaths together, but flu deaths are only a small fraction of the total. For example, in 2002 when the flu plus pneumonia deaths were reported at over 60,000 only 753 were flu deaths. In 2001 the total number of flu deaths was 267. The flu vaccine is poorly tested. According to Sherri Tenpenny, DO, VACCINE RESEARCHER, “The fact that the flu shots are ineffective in every age group hardly seems to matter to those who continually promote their use. FLU VACCINE? by Standard Process
The flu shot, and the newly released FluMist nasal vaccine, are not the answer to avoiding the flu. The “experts” will use FEAR to motivate people to get a flu vaccine, but this is yet another health care illusion. Flu can definitely be a killer disease and should not be easily dismissed. However, flu shots do not prevent illness--never have, never will.
The flu vaccine can actually weaken the immune system and make you more predisposed to the illness. And the side effects of FluMist, cough, runny nose/nasal congestion, irritability, headaches, chills, muscle aches and fever, sound just like the symptoms of the flu. If you decide to get the nasal flu vaccine, you will get not only a live flu virus in each dose but also table sugar and MSG, which are fraught with their own problems. Plus, research has shown an increased risk of Bell palsy following intranasal flu vaccination, according to the Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety (GACVS). The makers of the nasal flu vaccine in the study decided not to market it the following season due to the risk. According to GACVS, the greater risk of Bell palsy following immunization with this vaccine may have been due to specific vaccine components, or simply to use of the intranasal administration route. It is therefore possible that such complications of vaccine administration may also apply to other nasal vaccines.
The flu vaccine, whether in the shot or nasal form, is worthless and should be avoided. Not only are they loaded with toxic chemicals including mercury, formaldehyde, and aluminum, but many people come down with the flu shortly after receiving the shot. This is because it actually weakens the immune system, making the person more predisposed to the illness.

The bottom line is to lead a healthy lifestyle, which includes eating right, exercising, getting adequate sleep, and addressing stressors, year round. If you do, chances are you’ll never have to worry about coming down with the flu.

FLU SHOT CONTAINS MERCURY - A neurotoxin that damages brain and nerve cells.
There are 25 microgram of mercury per dose in most flu shots. That number is FIVE TIMES the maximum amount judged safe by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) for a 110 pound person.
A survey of over 9000 Americans found that this was unknown to an overwhelming. Lisa Handley (of PutChildrenFirst.org) son became autistic after a flu shot.

In 1999 government agencies called for the removal of mercury in vaccines. However, many vaccines are still permitted to have unsafe levels of mercury. Some of this year’s flu vaccines still contain mercury. (www.orgaincconsumers.org/2006/article_3400.cfm)

FLU SHOT DAMAGES THE IMMUNE SYSTEM No one knows the long-term consequences of repeated influenza vaccinations – it’s never been tested ( this is true of all vaccines). Repeated vaccination at a young age increases the risk of influenza in older age. This is possibly due to overall weakening of the immune system. FLU SHOT is linked to ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE. According to Hugh Fudenberg, MD, the world’s leading immunogeneticist, the chances of getting Alzheimer’s disease is TEN TIMES HIGHER if you have had FIVE CONSECUTIVE FLU SHOTS. Dr. Fudenberg states that mercury in the shot causes the brain damage. (1st International Conference on Vaccination, September 1997, Arlington, Va.)

FLU VACCINATIN DURING PREGNANCY IS DANGEROUS AND USELESS Researchers found that vaccinating mothers does not reduce respiratory illness in their newborns or infants. “Maternal influenza vaccination did not significantly affect infant outpatient and inpatient visits for acute respiratory illness.” (Arch Pediatr Adolesc Med.2006;160:1277-1283.www.medscape.com/viewarticle/548801) It is not known if flu vaccines can cause cancer or mutations or cause sterility, reproductive problems or fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman. It is also not known whether flu vaccine is excreted in human milk.

The American Academy of Pediatrics states “mercury in all of its forms is toxic to the fetus and children.” Yet pediatricians who tell pregnant women not to eat tuna to avoid mercury still recommend the mercury-laden flu shot even though mercury injected into the mother is able to cross the placental barrier and enter the fetus.
