Lloyd Morgan, lead author and member of the Bioelectromagnetics Society says, “Exposure to cell phone radiation is the largest human health experiment ever undertaken, without informed consent, and has some 4 billion participants enrolled. Science has shown increased risk of brain tumors from use of cell phones, as well as increased risk of eye cancer, salivary gland tumors, testicular cancer, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and leukemia. The public must be informed.” At Columbia University Law School, a presentation on Wireless Hazards, explained how wireless radiation creates cognitive problems, damages DNA, diminishes fertility, causes disorientation and navigation difficulties for birds, bees and other wildlife, and may contribute to Bee Colony Collapse, which, if not reversed, will jeopardize the future of life on earth.

Witnesses before a Senate Committee testified about research into cell phone use and its potential impact on human health, as well as the potential side effects such as brain and salivary gland tumors. In 2008, cell phones were identified as a contributor to salivary gland tumors. Dr. Siegal Sadetzki, who testified in September 2009 at the U.S. Senate Hearing, is the principle investigator of the study that made this finding. The report states that your risk of getting a parotid tumor on the same side of your head that you use for listening to the mobile phone increases by:

34 percent if you are a regular cell phone user and have used a mobile phone for 5 years.
58 percent if you had more than about 5,500 calls in your lifetime.
49 percent if you have spoken on the phone for more than 266.3 hours during your lifetime.

About 4 billion people are now using cell phones around the world, despite the fact that their safety is being increasingly called into question. There are no safety standards for testing cell phones before they are released to the market. You may be wondering why, if there is so much data showing the risks of cell phone use, no warnings are being made. The telecommunication industry is even BIGGER than drug industry, and they have far more influence in Washington. Government agencies have essentially ignored all the danger warnings. They fail to realize that it can take anywhere from 10 to 30 years for brain tumors to develop from cell phone exposure, so we are just now beginning to see some of the tragic effects of heavy cell phone use. The truth is, we are on the verge of a brain cancer epidemic. It could grow to 500,000 cases worldwide in 2010, and there may be over a million cases in the U.S. alone by 2015.

Sadly, children and teens are at an even higher risk, as their thinner skull bones allow for greater penetration of cell phone radiation. The radiation can enter all the way into their midbrain, where tumors are more deadly. In addition, children's cells reproduce more quickly, so they're more susceptible to aggressive cell growth. Their immune systems are also not as well developed as adults. Lastly, children face a far greater lifetime exposure. Professor Lennart Hardell of Sweden has found that those who begin using cell phones heavily as teenagers have 4 to 5 times more brain cancer as young adults! Increasing evidence is pouring in that cell phones are not only a risk factor for brain tumors, but also salivary gland tumors, eye damage, Alzheimer’s disease and more. An overlooked fact is that portable phones, used in homes and businesses, emit the same microwave radiation as cell phones creating the same health risks.

Convenience and popularity of portable and cell phones, blackberries, etc. will keep the demand high and the users at risk. Three things you can do:

1) Limit cell phone use to emergencies only and use the speaker phone whenever possible;

2) At home, use a land line with a corded phone instead of a portable phone; or invest in an inexpensive magicJack (computer) phone (www.secure.magicjack.com) and use a corded phone;

TIPS FOR HOME, GARDEN and FOOD

YARD AND GARDEN TIPS

ANTS: Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it 'home,' can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works and you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!

MOSQUITOES: Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.

SQUIRRELS AWAY! To keep squirrels from eating your plants, sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.

WEEDS AWAY: Put in your plants and work the nutrients in your soil. Then, wet newspapers and put layers around the plants overlapping as you go. Cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.

HOME AND APPLIANCES TIPS

DRYERS: How to protect the heating unit on dryers. Take your dryer filter (cleaned of lint) out of your dryer. Take it to the sink and run hot water over it. The lint filter is made of a mesh material. The hot water that should go through it will sit on top of the mesh and not go through the filter. This is because dryer sheets cause a film over the mesh and this invisible film is what burns out the heating unit of the dryer. The waxy feel of the dryer sheet is what builds up on your clothes and on your lint screen. Over time, this may cause the dryer unit to burn up which may result in overheating and fire. Wash the dryer mesh filter with hot soapy water and an old toothbrush every six months. This may make the life of the dryer at least twice as long and eliminate the risk of fire.

ENVELOPES, REOPENING SEALED: If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals easily.

FOGGY WINDSHIELDS: Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! It works better than a cloth!

FRUIT FLIES: To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass, fill it 1/2' with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid; mix well. Flies are drawn to the cup and gone!

GLASS, BROKEN: Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can not see easily.

SHAVING: Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but did not like when you tried it in your hair.

STATIC CLING, REDUCE: Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. The same works when you place a pin in seam of slacks when wearing panty hose. Static is gone.

VACUUM, FLEXIBLE: To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge - add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

FOOD TIPS

BANANAS: Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

CHEESE: Store opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh longer and not mold.

EGGS, DEVILED: Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly; cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.

EGGS, SCRAMBLED: To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich - add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream and then beat them up.
(Just don’t eat eggs too often as this is a highly acidic food.)

FROSTING - DOUBLED: When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. Result: the added air increases its volume giving you approximately twice as much frosting for more cakes and cup cakes allowing you to consume less sugar and calories per serving.

GARLIC: Add garlic (immediately) at the beginning to a recipe if you want a light taste of garlic and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of garlic.

MEASURING CUPS: Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with HOT water. Dump out the hot water, but do not dry cup. Add your ingredient, such as peanut or almond butter and watch how easily it comes right out.

PEPPERS: Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating.
Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

PIZZA: Reheat leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove. Set heat to med-low and heat until warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy pizza. Never microwave.

SNICKERS BARS: Leftover from Halloween can make a delicious dessert. Chop up bars with a food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Place apples in a baking dish and sprinkle chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. Serve. Yumm!


For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies.. Let set for a wonderful minty frosting.

COCONUT OIL BENEFITS

COCONUT OIL and Its MEDIUM-CHAIN TRIGLYCERIDES (MCT)

One of the first scientifically recognized benefits of medium chain triglycerides (MCT) or MCFA (medium chain fatty acids) is the unique manner in which they are easily digested, absorbed and put to use nourishing the body. MCT are broken down almost immediately by enzymes in the saliva and gastric juices so pancreatic fat-digesting enzymes are not even essential. Therefore, there is less strain on the pancreas and digestive system, and provide a quick source of energy necessary to promote healing. These fats provide nutritional benefits that can improve overall health of both: the sick and the well, the young and the old. HOW MCT WORKS
In the digestive system MCT are broken down into individual fatty acids (MCFA). Unlike other fatty acids, MCFA are absorbed directly from the intestines (without requiring pancreatic enzymes to break them into smaller units) into the portal vein and sent straight to the liver where they are, mostly, burned as fuel much like a carbohydrate. In this respect they act more like carbohydrates than like fats. Mitochondria is the engine of every cell and needs to be fed. Due to it having smaller molecules, coconut oil MCFA’s can penetrate the cell wall of mitochondria without help from an enzyme and feed it the necessary energy. The MCFA can travel to any cell that needs it, so if a heart muscle cell needs more energy; it is available from the coconut oil’s MCFA. Athletes are also experiencing its benefits.

HOW MUCH COCONUT OIL SHOULD ONE CONSUME?

A therapeutic dosage is 3 to 4 tablespoons a day, which will give an adult the equivalent amount of lauric acid that an infant receives from his mother's breast milk (the highest amount found, with coconut oil being second highest). This provides enough lauric acid to build the immune system which takes several weeks. Look for unrefined coconut oil. Stay away from all hydrogenated oils. Read the label. The more processed the product, the less benefit you will receive.

THE IMPORTANCE OF COCONUT OIL FOR NURSING MOTHERS
One of the major characteristics of human breast milk is its ability to protect since it has antimicrobial substances in milk that protect the child from a world teaming with infectious germs and parasites are the MCFA. When a nursing mother is infected with an illness, her child is also vulnerable. It has been recommended that HIV-infected mothers who are breastfeeding consume 24-28 grams/day of lauric acid and 3 - 4 grams/day of capric acid to prevent the transfer of the virus. Since coconut oil is nearly 48 percent lauric acid and 7 percent capric acid, this requirement would be met if the mother ate about 50-55 grams of coconut oil each day. A tablespoon is equivalent to 14 grams. So 3 ½ tablespoons of coconut oil a day would provide the recommended amount of both lauric and capric acids. Eating 40 grams (about 3 tablespoons worth) of coconut oil in one meal can temporarily increase the lauric acid in the milk of a nursing mother from 3.9% to 9.6% after 14 hours. Content of caprylic and capric acids are also increased. "The milk has increased amounts of the protective antimicrobials lauric acid and capric acid (the most important ones) which gives even greater protection to the infant." If the mother consumes coconut oil every day while nursing, the medium-chain fatty acid content will be even greater—up to as much as 18%. Coconut oil may also work as an aid for digestion and constipation. If the mother does not eat them while nursing, she will only be able to produce 3% lauric acid and 1% capric acid, and the baby may lose out on nutritional benefits and antimicrobial protection.

COCONUT OIL IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT TO ELDERLY
Elderly people may get more benefit from their food and supplements if they consume it with coconut oil and it may aid digestion and constipation. As we age, the pancreas does not make as many digestive enzymes, our intestines do not absorb nutrients as well. The whole process of digestion and elimination moves at a lower rate of efficiency. As a result, older people often suffer from vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Because MCT are easy to digest and improve vitamin and mineral absorption they should be included in their meals. This is easy to do if the meals are prepared with coconut oil.

COCONUT OIL MAY HELP RESTORE AND IMPROVE SKIN
